IL GIARDINO DELLA PIANTE TINTORIE
Nel piccolo giardino interno al laboratorio, è presente una esemplificativa collezione di piante tintoree e da fibra per esperienze di tipo didattico - comunicativo.
Si tratta per lo più di specie erbacee ed arbustive utilizzate fin dall’antichità, sia per la coloritura dei tessuti, sia per la loro tessitura, fino alla fine dell’800 quando molte di esse vennero sostituite da prodotti di sintesi.
Nelle Marche alcuni esemplari crescevano spontanei ed erano conosciuti sia per le proprietà tintorie, sia per l’uso terapeutico.
Per il colore abbiamo classificato in particolare: robbia, tagete, reseda, guado, cartamo; per la fibra: ginestra, lino e cotone.

- The Garden of Dye and Fibrous Plants
Beyond the second room a third area opens towards a glass door which gives access to a small garden in which we present an exemplary collection of dye and fibrous plants for educational-communicative types of experiences.
It consists mainly of herbaceous and shrubby plants, used for the weaving as well as the colouring of fabrics, dating back to ancient times up until the end of the 1800’s when most of them were substituted by synthetic products.
A few of these specimens grew spontaneously in the Marche Region and were known for their dyeing properties as well as for their therapeutic use.
For the colours, we have classified in particular: madder, marigold, mignonette, woad, and safflower; for the fibres: broom, flax and cotton.
